Multi, Immersive, Thoughtful

Exposure

Exposure is a collaborative, immersive installation work, with film, sound, paintings, and photography. It toured large scale venues in Scotland in the summers of 2022 and 2023. Exposure was in Dunoon; Isle of Lewis in Uig; Central Edinburgh; and Glasgow. It was largely created on the Isle of Jura in the Inner Hebrides, by Giles Perring, who lives there, and Andy Metcalf who lives in London. Andy and Giles worked on the project over two years alongside Kirsty Law who produced the final show. There were six periods of collaborative work together on Jura, making the film; planning the installation; fine-tuning the World Organ as well as the painting and photography.

We worked together to create a response to this magnificent yet harsh North Atlantic environment. We made a 20-minute film together and devised The Henge — a large-scale octagonal installation. Our aim was to make work that - while rooted in Jura - also resonates with the critical state of the world. It is an immersive experience.

At Brighton’s Centre for Contemporary Art, we showed a version of Exposure with Photographs and Paintings as well as showing the film.
