Archaeology

Archeology

Archaeology is a four-meter-wide wall hanging I exhibited in the Ply gallery some years ago. It drew on images from an ancient site of human ritual in southern Turkey.

Archaeology has also been used to describe the process of discovery of hidden aspects of the self — and their stories — in therapy. The wall hanging was a loose collage of paper, drawing, painting, and photographs.

I have been experimenting with collage for some time, and the opportunity arose for me to show some of them in 2017 in Espacio Gallery, Shoreditch, London. I selected work I was doing from drawings and images I collected about the death by drowning of refugees trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.
